Washing Instructions

 Washing Cloth Diapers!

There are so many ways to wash cloth diapers. If you ask 12 people how to wash diapers you will get 12 different answers. But do not worry, you will come up with your own system that works best for you. Diaper laundry is the best laundry in the house. Nothing to iron, you don't need to worry about wrinkles, all the diaper laundry is done togerther - so no sorting whites from darks! The diapers are soft and lovely when they are done. I think it's much more fun to stack clean cloth diapers with baby than the alternative method of get in the car (and carseat), drive, shop, pay, then add to the landfill. Diaper laundry is now one of my favorite laundry chores!.  And weather permitting - I love to hang my diapers all out on the line!  The sun is a great natural bleach!!

SO... How do you wash your diapers??  We are including instructions from many of our Cloth Diaper Companies - as they all do slightly vary - Here is how I wash my Diapers!

I Run a cold wash/rinse cycle, Then a hot wash with an extra rinse... Thats it - so easy!

What detergents to use are some of our most asked questions in our boutique - we retail both Allens (liquid & powder) as well as Claudias - and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH OF THEM, as do all of the Cloth Diapering Companies that we represent!

We recommend using a wet bag.... Put the soiled diaper into a dry pail with a wet bag (or just in the wet bag - your choice) On wash day, use the wet bag to transport the diapers to the machine, turning the wetbag inside out and using it as a glove to get all the dirty CDs into the washer, and then drop your bag into the washer as well!  This way you never touch a thing! No soaking is needed (but it is good to run a cold wash/soak first  if you want to). Doing a cold water cycle first prevents stains and minimizes dunking.  Let you washing machine do the work!

What about POOP?  Remember, breastmilk washes out like yogurt in the initial cold wash, so there is no need to dunk anything until solid food is introduced. It really is easy!  As breastmilk poop is water solubile!   My little one is eating everything in sight - so we use the biosoft liners, which are flushable, simply put one sheet down ontop of your diaper, when changing baby, if there is poop, pick it up and flush it... so I very rarely have to deal with poop on my diapers!
